Frameless mirrors are the cleanest, most contemporary option. Without a frame, the mirror floats against the wall and blends into any style context. A frameless mirror can span the full width of a double vanity for a seamless, uninterrupted reflection surface.

Design Choices That Matter

Framed mirrors add architectural detail and design character. Frame profiles in metal (brushed nickel, matte black, gold) or wood coordinate with vanity hardware and other bathroom finishes. The frame proportions should be consistent with the trim profile width elsewhere in the bathroom — a chunky 50 mm frame in a bathroom with delicate 12 mm hardware proportions creates visual tension.

Medicine cabinets are the functional upgrade choice. A recessed medicine cabinet provides concealed storage for medications, toiletries, and grooming supplies, removing these items from the vanity countertop entirely. Recessed installation maintains the finished wall plane; surface-mounted cabinets project from the wall and require more visual justification through design.

Integrated LED strips provide bright, even illumination for grooming tasks without the fixture-and-bulb complexity of traditional vanity lighting. Anti-fog heated mirror surfaces are a premium option that eliminates post-shower fogging without wiping.

Sizing a bathroom mirror: for a single sink vanity, the mirror should be slightly narrower than the vanity cabinet below — not extending to the wall on either side unless the vanity goes wall-to-wall. For a double-sink vanity, one large mirror spanning the full width is the most common choice, though two individual mirrors create a symmetrical, more formal arrangement.
